About the NSPCC

We are the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). We are the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children.

We have been protecting children from abuse for over 120 years.

We are the only children's charity in the UK with statutory powers enabling it to act to safeguard children at risk.

The types of information we collect

We may ask you to provide your personal data to us. Depending on your activity, this personal information may include your financial details, name, email address, postal address, telephone or mobile number or date of birth.

How we may use your personal information

We are required by the Data Protection Act 2018 to ensure that any personal information you supply to us is only used for the purpose for which you provided it.

How we will contact you

We will never contact you by email unless you have given us expression permission to do so. If we contact you by phone or letter we will not contact you again if you ask us not to. You can contact us at any time to change your contact method preferences by emailing cpsu@nspcc.org.uk.

How we handle your information and other organisations

The NSPCC will not rent or sell your personal information to other organisations.

However, where you have given us permission to contact you we may allow partner organisations access to some of your personal information so they can contact or provide services to you on our behalf.  A partner organisation may for example include a fundraising agency calling on our behalf.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use for this site or other agreements; or to protect the rights, property or safety of the NSPCC, our donors or others.  This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection.

How we handle direct debit or credit card information

We may link you to the main nspcc.org.uk website that has its own terms and conditions and privacy policy. To ensure the maximum level of security is applied to your financial information, any webpage that we request direct debit, credit card or other financial information on will be in a secure area of the site. All transmissions over the internet to and from that secure area will be encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

However, please note that the transmission of information via the internet is never completely secure.  Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site.

Any transmission is therefore at your own risk.  Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Securing your passwords

Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts our site, you are responsible for keeping the password confidential. You agree not to share that password with anyone else.

Following links to third-party websites

This website may include links to other sites, not owned or managed by the NSPCC. Whilst we try our best to only link to reputable websites we cannot be held responsible for the privacy of data collected by sites not managed by the NSPCC, nor can we accept responsibility or liability for those policies. For this reason you should consult the privacy policy on any external website you link to before you submit any data to those websites.

Where we store your information

The NSPCC may for financial or technical reasons from time to time need to use the services of an Internet Services Provider located outside of the European Economic Area. However, NSPCC shall ensure that your personal information will be held by those Internet Service Providers in compliance with European data protection regulations.

By submitting your personal information, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing at a location outside the European Economic Area.  We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

How to access your personal information

You may request a copy of any personal information that the NSPCC has about you. Please write to the Data Protection Manager, NSPCC, Weston House, 42 Curtain Rd, London EC2A 3NH. The NSPCC does not make a charge for supplying this information and will reply within 40 days of receipt of your request. It will help us to locate your records more easily if you can tell us something about the nature of your contact with the NSPCC.

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date.  You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

Updates or changes to our privacy policy

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy. Each time you visit this site you should check this Privacy Policy to check that no changes have been made to any sections that are important to you.  Where appropriate, any changes will be notified to you by email.
