Our colleagues in Wales have teamed up with other safeguarding experts to create the Welsh Sport Safeguarding Hub.

The Hub, based at the Sport Wales National Centre, consists of two members of CPSU Wales, Laura Whapham and Cerri Dando, as well as Ieuan Watkins from the Ann Craft Trust (ACT).

Laura, Cerri and Ieuan hope that by sitting together at the Sport Wales offices and sharing best practice, it will lead to a more joined up approach in safeguarding both children and adults in sport.

Laura Whapham, senior consultant for the CPSU, said:

“The CPSU team in Wales are thrilled to have joined up with ACT to provide a seamless safeguarding service to Welsh Governing Bodies. Ieuan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the existing team which will benefit the sports accessing support significantly. The new joint adult and child safeguarding team plan to run joint support sessions and training opportunities for safeguarding leads over the next year.”

Whilst Laura, Cerri and Ieuan will continue to support governing bodies of sport as they always have,  they are also developing links with other local agencies and are keen to offer help and guidance to the police, safeguarding boards and social services where needed.

You can get in touch with the Hub on 029 2033 4975.
