The CPSU has pledged ongoing support for the International Safeguards for Children in Sport.

The set of 8 safeguards describe what organisations need to put in place if they are providing sports and physical activity for children.

Coordinated by Unicef, the safeguards aim to create a safe sporting environment for all children, in all parts of the world and at all levels of competition.

More than 70 sports organisations have made the annual pledge to show or renew their support for the safeguards, originally launched in 2014.

Michelle North, head of CPSU, said:

"All children have the right to participate in sport in a safe and enjoyable environment and I’m looking forward to getting more involved with the great work that’s happening to increase the reach of the international safeguarding standards."

The 8 safeguards address policy, procedures, recruitment, monitoring and evaluation.
