Lisa Whiteside, 2014 Boxing World Championships silver medallist, has achieved so much in a relatively short space of time, becoming a world silver medallist only eight years after taking up boxing.

We’ve chatted to Lisa to find out more about why she chose boxing – the challenges she has faced being involved in a predominantly male dominated sport, and the rise of women’s boxing following the London 2012 Olympic Games.

UEFA Charity Award to support crucial work in child protection in sport

The Monaco Award 2014 was presented to the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit. This award will support the important work of the NSPCC, and will go towards creating safe sporting environments, awareness raising for parents in sport and enhancing the ChildLine Schools Service.

Disclosure and Barring Service announces launch date for a number of changes

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has today announced the launch date for a number of important changes to its services. On 17 June 2013 they will launch the online Update Service and introduce the applicant only certificates.
