Combat sport survey goes live

Last updated: 19 Feb 2026 Topics: Safeguarding children

Across the UK, thousands of children step onto mats, into dojos and rings every week, ready to learn, grow and push their boundaries. To make sure every one of those environments is safe, supportive and inclusive, we’re asking for your help to amplify an important piece of work.

We’re gathering real insights from the people who know young athletes best: parents and carers. Their lived experiences of taking part in martial arts and combat sports (like karate, judo or kickboxing) will help shape the future of safeguarding across these sports.

Parent and carer survey

Why your community matters

When stakeholders, clubs and community leaders share this survey, they help build a national picture of what children and their families experience across a wide range of martial arts and combat sports.

By encouraging parents and carers to take part, you’ll also help us:

  • build a clearer national picture of what children and parents experience
  • identify areas where safeguarding is working well
  • highlight opportunities for further support
  • make sure future CPSU guidance and resources reflect what parents and carers really need

The survey is short, anonymous and open to any parent or carer, whether their child is five or fifteen, brand new to the sport or competing internationally.

This is a chance to strengthen safeguarding at every level, and it starts with listening.

How you can help

We’re inviting clubs, coaches, national governing bodies and partner organisations across martial arts and combat sports to share the survey widely.

Please pass it on through your affiliated clubs, local groups, coaching teams and parent communities.
