This is for all the sport parents.

You are the early morning drivers, the sideline cheerleaders, the snack providers - and most importantly, the people who help children and young people feel safe, supported and confident in their sporting journey.

Lifelong Play

He laces up their tiny shoes,
his hands are firm, his heart is tight.
A dream takes shape, a seed of hope —
will they love it, will they take flight?

The field is wide, the race is fast,
their laughter rings, no score to chase.
No pressure yet, no urgent test,
just joy, just movement, just the space.

Then seasons turn, the stakes grow high,
the cheers are loud, the lines are set.
He sees their fire, their will to win —
the playful days, he can't forget.

But now they sit, their voices low,
he asks them what they feel inside.
Through doubts and dreams, he hears their voice —
their hopes, fears, and hearts open wide.

And so he stands, a steady guide,
to play his part, to face the test.
Through every fall, through every flight,
holds his breath and brings out their best.

Not trophies high nor medals bright,
but strength that shapes through sweat and tears.
The grit to stand, the grace to try,
courage and friendships through the years.

And though the game may shift and change,
though loss may come or triumph stay,
he walks beside them, arms held wide,
his love — their lifelong play.
