Choosing the right tool

Unsure which to use? Read the descriptions below to help you choose the most suitable tool.

For independent and community sport and physical activity providers

Is your group, club or organisation doing everything it can to keep children and young people safe in sport? Our self-assessment tool will take you through the introduction to safeguarding for independent and community sport and physical activity providers. There are 9 sections, which will help you assess what you do well and what you still need to do.

Is your organisation doing everything it could be to keep children and young people safe in sport? This online self-assessment tool will help you find out. It will take you through the Standards for safeguarding children in sport developed by the CPSU. There are simple questions for each of the 9 elements to help you assess what your organisation still needs to do.

Choose this tool when you're organising community activities like summer fairs, drop-ins or taster sessions. These events are sometimes in village halls, parks or public spaces, and you might not know who’s coming. Suitable for independent providers, community groups, youth clubs and faith organisations.

Choose this tool when you’re organising local or regional events like county finals or league competitions. These events are likely to involve established teams or clubs, might require regional travel and occasional overnight stays. Suitable for clubs and organisations linked to a national governing body.

Choose this tool when you're organising national or international events like training camps, championships or Olympic Games. These events are usually for athletes on a talent or performance pathway and often require travel and overnight stays. Suitable for those linked with a national or international sports body.
