Summary
Sports events are a fun and exciting time for all involved and can be a great way to get people enthusiastic about sport and physical activity. As a staff member or volunteer, you have a duty of care towards all children and young people involved in these events, whether they are participating, spectating or visiting, to ensure that everyone stays safe.
It is important you know what your safeguarding roles and responsibilities are, as well as understand and recognise any concerns that may arise and what reporting procedures you should follow. This briefing will provide guidance on what is expected of event staff.
