Children’s Coaching Collaborative (CCC) have launched their Play Their Way resource hub to transform children's coaching.
This new hub will host a range of new resources for coaches and other roles in sport to enable them to deliver child-first coaching and ensure children have agency over their journey, voice and choices.
According to Sport England's Active Lives survey (2021-22), only 47% of children who regularly exercise strongly agree that they enjoy taking part in sport and physical activity – a figure that’s still down on pre-pandemic levels (51%) which were already low.
The CCC share a passion to improve children’s experience in sport and physical activity by transforming coaching and putting the needs of the child first so they can play their own way.
What is child-first coaching?
Child-first coaching is an evidence-informed approach that prioritises the fundamental rights of all children and young people in sport and activity, regardless of their age, gender, background or ability. It is all about championing every child’s voice, choice and journey in sport and physical activity. This is underpinned by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: The Right to Play, The Right to Develop, and The Right to be Heard.
